The Ultimate Guide to Logistics For Islamic Organizations

This is something we’ve been working on for a while and are excited to announce – MuslimSI’s Ultimate Guide to Logistics for Islamic Organizations. In true MSI fashion, we’re going to be going all out, into all the nuts and bolts and practical details that are often hard to find elsewhere. We’re going to focus a lot on organizing logistics for Islamic events such as classes and seminars.

Here’s what we’re going to cover-

1) Creating an online presence – Website set up, design, collecting donations

2) Communication – How to keep in touch with your community including social media presence and managing a community email newsletter. We’ll be going into detail on how to properly set up your Facebook page and leverage it for maximum effectiveness – something that rarely any Islamic organization does correctly.

3) Formats for hosting Islamic classes and seminars – Once a week? One weekend? Two weekends? A month? Every other week? One time events?

4) Finding the right topics, and finding the right speakers.

5) Picking your audience (not everything can be a “youth program”)

6) Essential components of an effective class

7) Logistical considerations – handouts, venue, registration [paid and unpaid], food, seating, babysitting

8) Geek – mic set up, audio/visual, recording, and uploading of content

    Events aside from the traditional classes/seminars, i.e. community work, academic services for high school students, etc. What would be considered a good approach? And are there successful models that could be analyzed?

    How do you attract people to come? Especially those not too interested in Islam? Should the venue be a masjid in those situations?

    Salams, Awesome stuff. I was part of a masjid committee a few yrs back, and I was younger than 30. Trying to bring new ideas is hard work. But I think you guys should have a conference, inviting all the masjid management committees and have some speakers on better management, prioritization and other best practices. Including how to develop Scholars, the Community etc. I think if you tap into the right audience get the right speakers, produce the right material, it can even become an annual event. The reason I say this is that I’m not convinced these amazing ideas on this blog reach the uncles who sit on the team that can implement some of these ideas. Think of it as training the masjid committee. Keep up the great work.

    Yes, M 100% agree with you. Islamic organization really required to setup better social media and web management systems in their Offices. Its the era of web 2.0, social media and New Media and if you don’t have such wonderful presence then you are loosing the worth while that requires to complete your organizational goals.
